A few things about me
I 'm a geologist with specialization in geo-informatics.
My undergraduate bachelor's degree was a four-year program
at the faculty of Geology and Geo-environment, part of the School of Sciences of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).
The postgraduate program I chose had three semesters duration and was the “Applied Geography and Spatial Planning”
from Harokopio University of Athens (HUA), with the specialty of Geo-informatics.
Thanks to my studies, I can analyze geographical data with the
use of geographical information systems and remote sensing. During my master's
thesis I was taught about signal processing on active
microwave satellites. Combining undergraduate and postgraduate studies
I acquired the knowledge to detect and measure ground
deformation and infrastructure instability due to geophysical processes or human-induced activities.
Some of my skills are:
- understanding Softwares
- GAMMA s/w including IPTA
- ESRI ArcGIS
- using Programming Languages
Which really means, I 'm capable of exploiting spatial data and
geological knowledge with state of the art tools.
Softwares provide tutorials and applied techniques in order to
solve regular problems. Programming languages are used
when specific tools have to be developed or the environment
is desired to be fully controlled (this site for instance).
